Pregnant women should not take Lipitor.A very important thing to know when you’re taking any medication is to know the conflicting problems that can arise while taking it. Avoid alcohol while taking Lipitor.The first major Lipitor contraindications arise from liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations of serum transaminases. There has also been hypersensitivity to any component of this medicine. It is important that women that are of childbearing age and are not going to conceive or are not planning on getting pregnant be the only women that take this medication. Pregnant women or women that can become pregnant and are not on a birth control regimen are likely to find complications with this medication as well as endanger their new baby. If a woman gets pregnant while on this medication it is imperative that they not only stop their medication, but also get evaluated for any damage to the fetus.

There is a chance, like there is a chance with any medication, to overdose. It is an unfortunate thing when things like this occur and a patient should be treated immediately. Atorvastatin should not be used in consumption with large quantities of alcohol or have a history of liver disease. Active liver disease could create major contraindications with Lipitor and lead to severe consequences.

Do not eat foods that are high in cholesterol or high in saturated fat. Lipitor does not work if you do not change your diet to fit a lower cholesterol plan. You should also avoid drinking alcohol as it raises triglyceride levels and may damage your liver while taking this medication. Because the medication directly works with the liver, you shouldn’t drink alcohol alongside this medication. In some cases, vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs prescribed by your doctor could interfere with the medication, so make sure you have an extended talk with your physician about the possible problems that could arise.

Before taking Lipitor, make sure you’re checked completely for diabetes, under active thyroid, kidney disease, a history of liver disease, or a muscle disorder. If you have any of these conditions or are seeing signs of developing this in the near future, your physician will adjust the dose or maybe conduct a special test to safely take Lipitor as part of your need to lower cholesterol, and fit other medications accordingly.
